The Swiss company Tag Heuer’s premium and luxurious watches are famous all over the world and most of us would have one too. But not many must beknowing that it also produces Mobile Phones. It does, indeed. And like their watches, their Phones are premium and luxurious too. It first came into the Mobile market with The Tag Heuer Meridiist five years ago in 2008. It was the first and only Swiss-Engineered mobile phone to exist at that time and though it came at a hefty price tag, it still garnered fair success in the market. And now, Tag Heuer is back with The Meridiist 2.
The update version of its predecessor, The Meridiist 2 is lighter, thinner and certainly more powerful and better. Its design is inspired by Tag Heuer Monaco, which is a square-shaped racing chronograph which was brought in the limelight in 1971 by actor Steve McQueen in the film LeMans. Though the design isn’t much appreciated by the critics, but the build is praised all over. It has been made of some finest materials including different colored sapphire crystals which have been extensively used. It is very special in itself as the sapphire is difficult to scratch and hence the phone is virtually scratchproof. The pink sapphire has specifically been used in the Pink color variant to woo the women buyers. It has been built in France and has more than 400 mechanical components. Holding it definitely provides the urbane look and premium feel.
Talking about its features, it is a dual-sim feature phone, not specifically a smartphone. It has a 2.4 inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 320×240 pixels whereas the screen is monochrome and OLED. The resolution may not be much, but for a small screen size, it is enough to make the screen look bright and vivid. The processor is decent and there aren’t much lags. It certainly isn’t a phone in which you can download apps and play games. It is specifically made for a target audience which includes the rich and famous men and women, who have got a lot of cash to burn.
The best feature of the phone is the round the clock 24/7 exclusive concierge service. Anytime you can just press a button and the representatives from Tag Heuer will get you tickets for restaurants and concerts, even if it is sold out or has a large waiting list. This is just fantastic and gives you a VIP feeling. It also comes with a monstrous battery which has a standby time of 28 days in a single charge and can provide 15 hours of non-stop music playback.
To conclude, we can say that at a price tag of 3,291 pounds, it certainly cannot be afforded by most. The general public would rather buy a 400$ smartphone with 10 times more features than The Tag Heuer Meridiist 2. But this isn’t made for the General public and is exclusively made for the rich class and looking at the built and class associated with it, it can be a success and can be hugely popular among the upper class.
