Celkon is one of those brands that had arrived in India a good few years ago but they still are desperately trying to make a name for them in the market. Recently, they have launched their new phone, Celkon C4040. It looks like more of a low-end phone, which i don’t imagine would do much to improve their brand image in the country.
Coming back to the phone, the phone is a good solid phone made out of plastic. It supports a TFT capacitive touch screen display with a screen size of 2.4 inches. The screen resolution is about 240 x 320 pixels, with around 167 ppi pixel density. Coming in Black color and having dimensions of 101 x 52 x 12.5 mm (3.98 x 2.05 x 0.49 in), the phone is a Dual SIM phone having 2G network on both the SIM as GSM 900 / 1800.
The phone is powered by Propriety OS and a chipset and the processor is quite decent enough to handle various apps. The C4040 comes with a very low internal storage memory but has a Micro SD card slot which can expand its memory to 8 GB. The phone does not support any of the geo tagging or acceleration sensors. There are a umber of dedicated keys on the phone which includes the call, end and the power keys.
The celkon 4040 does have a 1.3 MP primary rear facing camera which can click photos with a pixel ratio of 1280 x 1024. But the phone lacks a Flash light. Also there is no secondary camera. The camera quality is also just decent enough for normal use. There is no feature helping us to video call. The camera however can help us in recording videos at 30 fps in VGA quality.
Celkon C4040 does support 2G Data transfers with the help of GPRS and EDGE. Data connection is also possible through Wi-Fi which does support dual band Hotspot to share internet connection. The phone also supports Flash player and the Personal data transfers can be done through Bluetooth v2.0. The device also supports messaging features SMS, FM radio and flash enabled games. There are no features include for e-mail or MMS. Also basic connectivity functions like WLAN are also missing.
The phone comes with a Li-Ion type battery with a capacity of 1100 mAh. It can provide up to 3 hours of talk time usage battery life while ca also provide a stand by battery life of around 8-9 hours which is just not good enough in today’s world. The Celkon 4040 is simply a phone for someone who only does want to call or listen to the radio, because other than that no other basic functions are possible with it. The camera is good enough for those people who rarely click photos. People who regularly go out and tend to click a good amount of photos will not find the camera of the phone of any help to them. All in all, it is just another average phone in the long list of other decent phones from Celkon.
